WholesalePilot vs RangeMe

One is a place where buyers come looking. The other goes and asks. Which you need depends on whether you can afford to wait.

RangeMe: be discoverable

RangeMe is a product-discovery platform. Brands create a profile, publish their products with images, specs and certifications, and retail category buyers search and browse that catalogue when they are working on a review. It is widely used on the buyer side in grocery, natural and specialty retail.

The model is inbound. Your work goes into making the listing complete and credible, and into being present when a buyer happens to run a search in your category. When a large retailer directs its suppliers to submit through the platform, having a good profile there is simply part of doing business with them.

WholesalePilot: go and ask

WholesalePilot works in the other direction. You paste a link to your product — your own store, a marketplace listing, any page where it is shown — and it reads the product, works out which kinds of companies stock things like it, and then goes looking for those companies by name.

For each one it finds the person who actually buys that category, verifies their email address, and writes one email in your name built from your product and their business. You read the emails before they go, edit any you want, and send. Replies land in an inbox with the follow-ups already scheduled.

Nothing waits for a buyer to browse a listing. The list is yours, and it exists whether or not anyone has heard of you.

When RangeMe is the right answer

If a retailer has told you to submit your product through RangeMe, submit it through RangeMe — that is the process, and no amount of outbound replaces it. The same goes if your category is one where buyers actively run reviews on the platform and you have the profile and certifications to compete in that catalogue.

When WholesalePilot is the right answer

Use WholesalePilot when the problem is that nobody is looking for you yet. If your product is new, your brand is unknown, or you sell into a category where buyers are not browsing a catalogue at all — regional distributors, restaurant supply, industrial resellers — waiting to be discovered is not a plan. The two are not mutually exclusive: plenty of brands keep a profile up and run outbound at the same time.

Questions

Is WholesalePilot a RangeMe alternative?
Only in the sense that both help you reach retail buyers. They are different mechanisms: RangeMe makes you findable to buyers who are browsing, WholesalePilot contacts buyers directly on your behalf. If your goal is submitting to a retailer that uses RangeMe, WholesalePilot does not replace it.
Can I use both?
Yes, and it is a sensible combination. A profile handles the buyers who come looking; outbound handles the far larger number who never will.
What do I need to start?
A link to your product and an idea of your wholesale price. The product analysis and the first buyer preview are free — you see which buyer types fit before you spend anything.
